I’m very excited to share the programme for the upcoming annual BAAL Language in Africa SIG conference which will be held on the 10th of May at the University of Portsmouth. The programme can be accessed on our website here.
This year’s conference theme is Language and Decolonisation in 21st Century Africa. We have an exciting range of speakers who will be discussing language in Africa across a number of countries including: Algeria, Botswana, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, the Gambia, Equatorial Guinea, Morocco, Namibia, Nigeria, Senegal, and South Africa.
We are also delighted to welcome Professor Rosemary Wildsmith-Cromarty as our plenary speaker who will deliver her talk ‘Language, Power and Decolonisation: Un ménage à trois?’
